MRS. JACOB B. JANZ
Agnes Janz was born to Abram P. and Aganetha (nee Koop) Wiens in Sparrau, in the Ukraine, on January 11, 1887. She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour in her youth and was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren church on May 12, 1906. On August 27, 1908 she was married to Jacob B. Janz, a union which lasted for 63 years. Six children were born to their marriage, all of whom are living and were present at their mother's funeral.
In 1924 the family left Russia for Canada, residing first in Ontario, then coming to Alberta in 1927. They farmed in the vicinity of Coaldale, moving into Coaldale upon their retirement. She passed away suddenly on December 2.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Jacob; six children, Agnes (Mrs. J. F.) Hubert, Helen, Jacob and John, all of Coaldale, Lydia (Mrs. P. R) Toews, Clearbrook, B:C., and Benjamin, of Edmonton; 26 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three sisters, (Mrs.) Tina Wittenberg, Abbotsford, B.C., (Mrs.) Sara Wiebe and (Mrs.) Helen Friesen, Steinbach, Man. One grandson predeceased her.
The funeral was conducted from the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church December 5 with D. J. Pankratz and P.R Toews ministering.
