— Mrs. Lizzie Lohrenz, 59, wife of John H. Lohrenz of Halstead, died at the home Wednesday morning, Sept. 21. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Halstead, where the funeral services were held. Mrs. Lohrenz, the former Lizzie Neufeld, was a lifelong resident of Harvey County. She is survived by her husband; one son, James Richard; her father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Neufeld; two sisters and four brothers. | |||

Lizzie Neufeld Lohrenz, daughter of John and Katherine Ewy Neufeld, was born in Harvey County, Kansas on Oct. 6, 1895. She passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday morning, Sept 21, 1955, at 5:30 a. m. after having lived in Harvey County all the days of her life and having reached the age of 59 years 11 months and 15 days. | |||
On May 9, 1915, she was baptized upon the confession of her faith by Rev. William Galle and received into the membership of the Garden Township Mennonite Church near Hesston, Kansas. She remained a member of this church until June 17, 1951, when she with her husband and son united with the First Mennonite Church of Halstead, Kansas where she remained a faithful member until her death. | |||
On Nov. 3, 1929, she was united in marriage with John H. Lohrenz by Rev. H. P. Krehbiel. With her husband she made her home in Harvey County and with him she was privileged to share life’s joys and sorrows for a little more than 25 years. A special celebration in observance of their 25th wedding anniversary was held in their home in November of last year. One son, James Richard, was born to this union. | |||
She was preceded in death by her mother. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband; her son; her father and step-mother, Mrs. Mary Wall Neufeld; two sisters, Bertha of Moundridge and Emma, Mrs. Harry Rutschman, of Hesston; four brothers, John E., Moundridge, Albert of Hanston, Ferd of Burrton, and Raymond of Hesston; seven sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and a host of relatives and friends. | |||
Mrs. Lohrenz was a loyal church member and a devoted wife and mother. She was a faithful housekeeper who had her house in order at the time of her death even though it came suddenly and unexpectedly. She was a lover of flowers and kept the windows of the home adorned with them. She was a woman of quiet and loving disposition. | |||
