— The aged Mrs. Jacob P. Janzen, a resident of the Bethesda Home at Goessel, passed away last Saturday at the Bethesda hospital there. She was 85. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Alexanderwohl church, Rev. H. B. Schmidt and Rev. J. J. Voth, in charge. The surviving children are Dan Janzen of Goessel, Otto Janzen of Hillsboro, Mrs. Alvin Voth of Tuba City, Ariz., Mrs. Ferd Schmidt and Gust R. Janzen of Newton and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dick Janzen of Hillsboro.

Our mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Janzen, daughter of Abraham and Maria Janzen Reimer, was born in South Russia in the Steinfeld Village on July 1, 1870. She passed away August 13, 1955, at 6:30 in the morning at the age of 85 years, one month and 12 days.

As a seven-year-old she came with her parents to America in 1877 and made her home with her parents in Marion county near Goessel, Kansas. She received her elementary education in the Pleasant Valley School which she attended from her parental home.

She was baptized upon confession of faith in her Redeemer Jesus Christ on June 19, 1889, by Elder Jacob Buller, and was accepted into the Alexanderwohl church whose faithful member she remained until her death.

On March 10, 1891, she was united in marriage with our father Jacob P. Janzen, with whom she shared life's joys and sorrows for over 55 years. In 1916 our parents had the privilege of celebrating their silver wedding anniversary, and in 1941 their golden wedding anniversary. These joyful events were accepted by our parents as a wonderful leading of the Lord.

In 1926 our parents retired from farming and moved to the town of Goessel where she lived until her death. During severe illnesses she was a patient in the Halstead hospital, the Bethel hospital and the Bethesda hospital. It was in the Bethesda hospital where she was given kind and loving care during her last days of suffering. All the special medical care possible was given to alleviate her suffering until the Lord called her home to be with Him. The departed mother longed for the time when she would be redeemed from this life of suffering to be togethed [sic] with her own who had preceded her to the beyond.

Mother has heard the call of Jesus: "Come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." Matt. 25:34.

Mother was concerned about the spiritual life of her children and continually interceded for them in prayer. She deemed it a great joy to visit with her children and grandchildren. We shall miss her greatly, but grant her the cherished rest for which she longed. Her hope was that of the Apostles as recorded in Rom. 8:18, "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."

She leaves to mourn her death the following children: Mrs. Dietrich Janzen and family of Walton, Mr. and Brs. Daniel Janzen and family of Goessel,
