Early Settlers Died At Hillsboro
Hillsboro, Kansas. — John Petker, 81, one of the few remaining settlers who emigrated to this country in the 1870's, died at the Salem Hospital, Thursday, July 28.
Mr. Petker was born in South Russia Nov. 6, 1873 and came to America with his parents in 1878, the family settling in York County, Nebr. Mr. Petker came to Kansas during his young manhood. He was a member of the Hillsboro M. B. church, where also the funeral services were held Monday morning, Aug. 1, with Rev. Waldo Hiebert in charge.
The wife and six children survive.
