Metamora, ill. &#8212; This community paid final respects to one of its well known retired farmers on Feb. 28 when funeral services were held at the Roanoke Mennonite church for Joseph Springer, Sr. He passed away Feb. 25 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Schertz, in Washburn, reaching the age of 89.

A native of Alsace-Lorraine, he came to this county at the age of 21. Surviving are two daughters and five sons,grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and two bothers {''sic''], Valentine of Fisher and Ben of Washington.

RETIRED FARMER DIED AT AGE OF 89

Metamora, ill. — This community paid final respects to one of its well known retired farmers on Feb. 28 when funeral services were held at the Roanoke Mennonite church for Joseph Springer, Sr. He passed away Feb. 25 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Schertz, in Washburn, reaching the age of 89.

A native of Alsace-Lorraine, he came to this county at the age of 21. Surviving are two daughters and five sons,grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and two bothers {sic], Valentine of Fisher and Ben of Washington.
