MRS. TENA LOEWEN

Tena Loewen (nee Friesen) was born to Gerhard and Agatha Friesen on April 22, 1905 at Cope, Colorado. In 1907 the Friesen family moved to Munich, N.D. where Tena grew up and had her schooling. In 1919 the Friesen family moved to a farm near Hepburn, Sask.

She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour during evangelistic meetings conducted by C.N. Hiebert when she was 19 years of age. On September 7, 1924 she joined the Hepburn Mennonite Brethren Church through baptism and remained a faithful member until her death. On November 26, 1933 she was joined in marriage to Philip Loewen with whom she was able to share over 36 years. For 28 years they farmed west of Hepburn and in 1961 they moved into the village,

She first became HI of cancer in 1964 and thou9h she had several operations and many treatments, she eventually succumbed to the disease on September 28, 1969. She reached the age of 64.
