On Friday evening, the youth left the Stadtlander home at the east edge of town to play with friends. He apparently failed to see an oncoming truck when crossing the street. The vehicle swerved to avoid hitting him, but the rear end struck him on the head. He passed away a few hours later at Bethel hospital. |

NINE-YEAR-OLD BOY FATALLY INJURED IN STREET ACCIDENT
Mountain Lake, Minn. — A tragic accident on March 19 claimed the life of Eugene Stadtlander, nine years of age, and the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Stadtlander.
On Friday evening, the youth left the Stadtlander home at the east edge of town to play with friends. He apparently failed to see an oncoming truck when crossing the street. The vehicle swerved to avoid hitting him, but the rear end struck him on the head. He passed away a few hours later at Bethel hospital.
Funeral services were held March 23 at the Bethel Mennonite church, and members of his Sunday School class at the church served as pall bearers.
