Former Institute President Dies

DR. C. H. SUCKAU CALLED AWAY IN DEATH MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12

Dr. C. H. Suckau, former India missionary, pastor at Berne, Indiana until 1943 and president of Grace Bible Institute from 1943 to 1950, died at the family home in Omaha, Nebraska at 4:30 Monday afternoon, Nov. 12. The immediate cause of his death was a heart ailment from which he had suffered for the past several years.

Following a memorial service at Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, the body was brought to Newton for funeral services on Friday, 3:30 p. m., at the First Mennonite church and interment in Greenwood cemetery.

Dr. Suckau was born at Newton on Jan. 23, 1881, the son of John and Marie A. Suckau, and thus reached an age of only a few months short of 71 years. On June 24, 1908, he was married to Lulu O. Johnson, who now survives together with their two children, Theodore (Suckau) Youngs and Mrs. Edna R. Gertsner.

The services here will be in charge of Rev. D. J. Unruh, pastor of the First Mennonite church and president of the Grace Bible Institute board of directors, and Rev. H. D. Burkholder, president of the school.
