Carlock, III. — Funeral services for Rev. George I. Gundy, well known leader in the Central Conference of Mennonites, took place at the Meadows Mennonite church on Sept. 19. Death came after an illness of three weeks.

Rev. Gundy had been pastor of the Meadows church for over a quarter of a century, and during most of that time served also as superintendent of the Meadows old people’s home. He resigned from the superintendency several years ago after 22 years of service. He was a former president and vice-president of the Central Conference and served on a number of conference boards and committees.

Born April 3, 1880, at Carlock, he united with the North Danvers Mennonite church as a young man. After his marriage to Clara Strubhar in 1904 he was chosen minister at the Congerville Mennonite church and continued in the pastorate at that place for 19 years, until called to Meadows.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Gordon and Donald, and 10 grandchildren. Burial was made at Washington, Ill.

Central Conference Leader Called In Death

REV. GEORGE L GUNDY WAS SUPT. OF MEADOWS HOME FOR 22 YEARS

Carlock, III. — Funeral services for Rev. George I. Gundy, well known leader in the Central Conference of Mennonites, took place at the Meadows Mennonite church on Sept. 19. Death came after an illness of three weeks.

Rev. Gundy had been pastor of the Meadows church for over a quarter of a century, and during most of that time served also as superintendent of the Meadows old people’s home. He resigned from the superintendency several years ago after 22 years of service. He was a former president and vice-president of the Central Conference and served on a number of conference boards and committees.
