Miss Schowalter, who was a graduate nurse of the Halstead Hospital Training School with the class of 1921, was dearly loved by all who knew her. She possessed beauty of person as well as of character, and she was kind, loving and sympathetic to the superlative degree, the latter qualities with that of her keen perception gave her an enviable record in her profession as a nurse. She was called by her Creator at an early age, from this world of suffering and of the few years spent here on earth, seven were devoted to the comfort and aid of her suffering fellowmen. She chose a noble profession and she was true to the Nightengale Pledge of nurses to the end. It was her privilege to see much of the materialistic world; she knew the joys that a new life can bring and the sorrow and suffering brought by the Angel of Death. It was her privilege to know all that constitutes life, and in so knowing her deep love for her Creator grew so that when He summoned her to Him, she departed from this world with a smile on her lips knowing that there is a life in the hereafter, one that is free from sorrow and pain.

Halstead, Kan., Oct. 24. — Miss Elizabeth K. Schowalter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Schowalter, passed away at the Halstead hospital at 11:45 o'clock, Monday morning, following an illness of about eighteen months with an abscess which developed into peritonitis.
