Death Comes to S. D. Pioneer
Marion, S. D. — Relatives from Kansas, North Dakota, and Minnesota were among those who attended funeral services at the Bethesda church here March 31 for Cornelius H. Berg, pioneer resident of the community who died March28 at the age of 81.
He was a son of the Henry Berg family which homesteaded here in 1874 after migrating from Russia.
He took a great interest in the church, and served his congregation as song leader for more than a quarter of a century. When change was made t the English language, he spent much time learning his English songs. In the early days before there were undertakers, he was often called upon to assist at funerals.
He leaves six children and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
