Thiessen was married in 1939 to Margaret Busenitz of Whitewater. He was a farmer and a lifetime Whitewater area resident. Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, Orval of Peabody, Wilmer of rural Newton and Marlin of rural Burns; a daughter, Lillian Leyenaar of the Philippines; two brothers, Edgar and Wilferd; and a sister, Martha Thiessen, all of Whitewater; and eight grandchildren.

● Funeral services were held May 20 at Emmaus Mennonite Church of Whitewater for Henry Thiessen, 70, of rural Newton, who died May 18. Alvin Kleinsasser officiated. Thiessen was married in 1939 to Margaret Busenitz of Whitewater. He was a farmer and a lifetime Whitewater area resident.
