Agatha W. Penner

Agatha Wiebe was born March 5, 1887, in Samara, Russia. Her father was Gerhard Wiebe and her mother was Margarete Wiebe, nee Klassen.

After the death of her mother in Russia, her father came to the United States. Gerhard Wiebe settled in Beatrice, Neb. in 1894 with his two sons and four daughters. Here Agatha received her early education and was baptized on confession of faith of the Lord Jesus Christ in the First Mennonite Church on May 25, 1904, by Elder Gerhard Penner. She attended Bethel College 1910 to 1912.

On Sept. 5, 1912, Agatha Wiebe and Herman A. Penner were joined in marriage. Two children, Robert and Mildred were born to this union in Omaha. In 1923 the family moved to Lincoln.

Agatha Wiebe Penner went to be with her Lord and Saviour on her birthday, March 5, 1957, at the age of seventy.

She is survived by her husband, two children, three sisters, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the Beatrice, Neb. Mennonite Church, Rev. Ralph K. Weber and Rev. Jacob F. Balzer officiating. Burial was made in the Mennonite cemetery at Beatrice.
