— The new section of highway 81 between Moundridge and Newton has already claimed its first accident victim. Frank Schowalter, 59, a farmer residing two and one-half miles south of Moundridge, met death last Sunday evening when his car was struck be another driven by a service man stationed at Salina. He was thrown from the car and pinned under it. The accident occurred near the Schowalter home and it is believed he was turning off the new highway, which is not yet open for traffic, when struck by the other car. The other driver and a companion are being held by Harvey county officials.
