MRS. ANNA WEBER
Mrs. Anna Weber, daughter of Henry and Barbara Krehbiel, was born on a farm about five miles northwest of Donnellson, Iowa on July 7, 1858.
She had been a very active woman, and even in her old age she was a faithful attendant at the services of her church. In July 1949 her vigor and vitality began to fail and she gradually became weaker and passed away quietly Friday forenoon, December 1, 1950, at the ripe old age of 92 years, four months, and 24 days.
In her youth she attended the public school and also the German parochial school several months each year.
At the age of 13 she made a public profession of her faith and was baptized by Rev. Christian Schowalter and received as a member of the Zion Mennonite church.
In 1883 she went to Kansas. She worked around Halstead as a domestic and later was a milliner at Moundridge. She returned to Donnellson in 1896 and on February 12, 1899, was married to Elias P. Weber in the old stone church northwest of Donnellson. This union was blessed with a son and a daughter, but the son died in infancy.
Sister Weber had the welfare of her church on her heart and was a worker in the women’s missionary society. She was ready and willing to help the needy.
Her husband preceded her in death on November 17, 1938. She was the last one of her parent's family to survive, four brothers and four sisters having preceded her to the Great Beyond.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Malinda and a step-son, Edgar, both at home; two step-daughters, Mrs. Erna Lowenberg, Donnellson, and Mrs. Hilda Lowenberg of Miami, Fla.; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon. December 3, 1950. A brief service was conducted at the Miller funeral home at 1:30 and at the Zion Mennonite church at 2 o’clock. The services were in charge of the pastor, Rev. Elmer Basinger, who spoke on “The Triumphant or Victorious Life" based upon Rev. 3:12.
A mixed quartet Miss Lillian Krehbiel, Mrs. Frank Gaylord, Herbert Lowenberg and Henry F. Krehbiel, sang the hymns, "Abide With Me" and "Asleep in Jesus." Miss Hilda Krehbiel was the accompanist.
Harry J. Krebill, Harold Krehbiel, Walter D. Krehbiel, Armand Babb, Nelson Krehbiel, and Harry Zachmeyer, served as pall-bearers. Interment was made in the Mennonite cemetery.
