MRS. JACOB G. JANZEN

Sara Schroeder Janzen, daughter of David Schroeder and Anna Buller Schroeder, was born January 18, 1896, at Canton, Kans., and departed this life at 8:20 p. m., on November 5, 1950, at the age of 54 years, nine months and eighteen days.

Upon her confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ she was baptized by Elder Henry Banman and accepted into membership at the Alexanderwhol [sic Alexanderwohl] church near Goessel, Kans.

In 1914 she moved to the Inola, Okla., community with her mother and stepfather, where she became a member of the Eden Mennonite church, later transferring her membership to the Medford Mennonite church where she remained a faithful member until her death.

On May 26, 1920, she was united in marriage to Jacob G. Janzen, and together they established their home in Medford, Okla.

Her health began to fail about 20 years ago and she suffered intensely at times. Her condition gradually became worse until on October 22, 1950, she was taken to a hospital in Blackwell, Okla., and two weeks later on November 5, she entered peacefully into her heavenly rest.

During her long illness she found much comfort in prayer and in reading her Bible. Among her favorite Bible verses were Psalm 119:105, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” and First Peter 5:7, "Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you." Some of her favorite songs were "God Understands" and “Near to the Heart of God.”

Her kindness of her friends and neighbors and her devotion to her family were an inspiration to all who visited her. The many prayers of her friends gave her comfort through all her suffering.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband and two sons, Norman of Caldwell, Kans., and Eldon of the home; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Norman Janzen; one half-sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hiebert of North Hollywood, Calif.; four half-brothers, Otto Funk of Muskogee, Okla., John Funk of Choteau, Okla., Waldo and Arnold Funk of Inola, Okla., and a host of other relatives and friends. Her father and mother, one sister, Anna, one brother, William; one half-brother, Gustav, and step-father, Abraham Funk have preceded her in death.
