SMOKETOWN, PENNSYLVANIA
Shortly after noon on Sept 17, Benjamin Baer, two and one-half year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Baer, East Petersburg, was knocked down by a six wheeled truck and killed when the dual wheels passed over his body.
Benny and his sister Patsy, eight years of age, were playing on the sidewalk and he ran across the intersection. The truck driver was going only 10 miles an hour, slowing down for a stop sign, when the child dashed out from between parked autos.
Besides parents and sister, he is survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mr. Elmer Kauffman, Manheim, and also Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Baer, Rohrerstown. Funeral services were held at East Petersburg Mennonite church on Sept 20.
