&#8212; In the community at Freeman, S. D., the close of the Old Year brought also to an end the earthly sojourn of two aged pioneers. Mrs. A. Gering, 86, passed away last week after a long illness, while John J. Miller, 84, died on the evening of December 29. Both immigrated from Russia with their parents in the early days of the South Dakota settlement, experienced the trials and hardships of pioneer days there, and made a valuable contribution to the up-building of the community.

— In the community at Freeman, S. D., the close of the Old Year brought also to an end the earthly sojourn of two aged pioneers. Mrs. A. Gering, 86, passed away last week after a long illness, while John J. Miller, 84, died on the evening of December 29. Both immigrated from Russia with their parents in the early days of the South Dakota settlement, experienced the trials and hardships of pioneer days there, and made a valuable contribution to the up-building of the community.
