Nichlous [''sic'' Nickolaus] J. Hiebert, son of peter and Anna (Janzen) Hiebert, was born Oct. 4, 1865, in Berjansk, Russia, and departed this life on Jan. 28, 1943, in Van Nuys, Cal., at the age of 78 years, 3 months, and 24 days. | |||
When yet a lad he ,migrated with his parents to America and settled at Council Grove, Kan., in 1874, where he was baptized and joined the Methodist Church in 1888. In 1890 he entered into the state of Holy matrimony with Martha Goerz and later joined the church of her faith, the Brudertahl [''sic'' Bruderthal] Mennonite church near Hillsboro, Kan. To this union were born 13 children, two of which preceded him in death. | |||
In 1912, he with his family moved to Inola, Okla., where they settled on a farm and remained until a few months preceeding [''sic''] his death. He was a healthy, hard-working farmer until in later years high blood pressure and heart trouble caused him considerable illness. He was advised by his physician to change climate for the sake of his health. After much deliberation he and his wife decided to go to California and spend a little time with their five sons and families who live there. However, the climate did not seem to agree very well either, and after a stay of only two short months pneumonia developed. He was taken to the Valley View Sanitarium in Van Nuye, but in spite of the efforts of the attending physician and nurses he passed away at 10:50 o'clock Thursday evening, January 28. Only five days previous to his death he with his wife had the privilege of celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary. | |||
He leaves to mourn his passing his widow,eleven children, Willie, Camp Hopkins, Cal.; Ella, Mrs. Sol Mouttet, Inola0, Okla; Margaret, Mrs. J. J. Siemens, Inola; Melina, Mrs. John Baergen, Villa Park, Ill.; Fritz, North Hollywood, Cal.; Arthur, Van Nuys, Cal.; Bruno, Los Angeles, Cal.; Martha, Mrs. Otto Funk, Inola; Mary, Mrs. Ben Pankratz, Inola; John, Choteau, Okla.; Edwin, Roscoe, Cal.; 31 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and one brother, Abe of Elk City, Okla. | |||

Nickolaus J. Hiebert, Sohn von Peter und Anna Janzen Hiebert, wurde geboren den 4. Oktober 1865 in Berdjansk, Rußland und starb den 28. Januar 1943 in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California im Alter von 78 J. 3 M. und 24 Tagen. 1874 kam er mit Eltern nach Amerika und siedelten bei Coucil Grove, Kansas an. Hier bekehrte er sich, wurde getauft und schloß sich der Methodistenkirche an. 1890 verehelichte er sich mit der Jungfrau Martha Goerz und wurde Glied der Brudertal Kirche nahe Hillsboro; sie zogen dann auch in die Nähe der Kirche. In dieser Ehe wurden 13 Kinder geboren, zwei davon starben klein. In 1912 zog er mit seiner Familie nach Inola, Oklahoma und betrieb Farmerei, hat somit die Pionierzeit der neuen Ansiedlung mitgemacht. Vor ein paar Jahren fing er an zu kränkeln, litt am Herzen und hohen Blutdruck. Sein Arzt riet ihm, Klima zu wechseln. Sie entschlossen sich zu ihren 5 Söhnen in California zu reisen, doch im Winter ist es naß und kalt in California. Das war nicht passend für ihn, es ging ihm auf die Lungen. Auf des Arztes Rat wurde er zum Valley View Sanitarium in Van Nuys genommen, aber es setzte Lungenentzündung ein und den 28. Januar abends um 10:50 wurde er von seinem Leiden erlöst. Er hinterläßt seine trauernde Gattin und 11 Kinder: Willie, Camp Hopkins, Calif.; Ella, Inola, Okla.; Melinda, Mrs. John Baergen, Villa Park, Ill.; Bruno, Los Angeles, Calif.; Martha, Mrs. Otto Funk, Inola, Okla.; Marie, Mrs. Ben J. Pankratz, Inola, Okla.; John, Choteau, Okla.; Edwin, Roscoe, Calif; 31 Großkinder, 1 Urgroßkind und einen Bruder, Abram Hiebert bei Elk City, Okla.
