Death last Saturday morning called to his reward Dr. John E. Linschied, for 18 years professor of English at Bethel College. Although in quite ill health, he had expected to take up his regular work of teaching at the opening of the college in September. His death followed a stroke which he suffered late Friday night.

Faithful and through in his studies and teaching, he has usjt [''sic''] recently received hiS Ph. D. degree from Kansas University, after which he served as chairman of the English department at Bethel College.

Born in Harvey county on May 23, 1887, his parents moved to Arlington, Kansas, two years later. On July 14, 1921, he was married to Anna E. Claassen, who, together with three children, survives.

Dr. Linscheid had been a member of the Bethel college faculty since 1921. Prior to that time he had studied in Oberlin college and at the University of Kansas. He had taught for two years in a rural school, four years in the Mennonite Collegiate Institute of Gretna, Manitoba, and one year at Freeman College, S. Dak.

Those of his immediate family who survive him are his wife, his son Willard, his daughters Katheryn Ann and Marjorie, and his sisters Elizabeth and Emma and his brothers Alfred and Peter R.

Well Known Teacher Called Away in Death

DR. J. E. LINSCHEID PROFESSOR AT BETHEL COLLEGE, DIED LAST SATURDAY

Death last Saturday morning called to his reward Dr. John E. Linschied, for 18 years professor of English at Bethel College. Although in quite ill health, he had expected to take up his regular work of teaching at the opening of the college in September. His death followed a stroke which he suffered late Friday night.

Faithful and through in his studies and teaching, he has usjt [sic] recently received hiS Ph. D. degree from Kansas University, after which he served as chairman of the English department at Bethel College.
