Seven Year Old Girl Dies From Injuries Received in Accident.
Halstead, Kans., Dec. 31. Edward H. Aurenheimer [sic Auernheimer] and family, who formerly lived northwest of Halstead, suffered severe injuries in an automobile collision late Sunday afternoon, the 7-year-old daughter, Edith, passing away Monday.
The accident happened about four miles east of Augusta where the Aurenheimers [sic Auernheimers] were living on a farm. All the family were thrown from the car by the impact of the collision. The door was found nearly 20 feet away from the car.
Mr. Aurenheimrer [sic Auernheimer], 45, driver of the car, suffered a skull fracture and brain injury, and Mrs. Aurenheimer [sic Auernheimer], 31, received facial lacerations and bruises.
Edith suffered a fracture at the base of her skull, Richard, 5, Aleda Mae, 4, Robert, 20 months, and a 4-months old baby received cuts and bruises.
Officers said the baby was found in weeds and mud nearly 15 feet from the car.
Ernest Aurenehimer, [sic Auernheimer], brother of Ed, said that the family had been to see the ruins of a house destroyed by fire, and were on their way home at the time of the crash. — Halstead Independent.
