Funeral of Peter Zimmerly

It was a queer co-incidence that there were three funerals on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, all of which your correspondent would like to have attended. The third one was righ here in the settlement.

Peter Zimmerly, whose illness we reported here, was bedfast for five weeks, when early Thursday morning death came to his relief.

He was born October 8, 1857, north and west of Orrville, He was married to Miss Marian Steiner on Jan. 19, 1888, and settled down on the south part of the former Tom Boone farm, where they have lived ever since. During that time six children were born to them. Silas, aged 19 years died in 1915. Those living are John and Edwin, Dalton, R. D.; Lizzie, Mrs. Otto Kamp, Orrville, R. D.; Lydia, Mrs. Sam Neuenschwander, Dalton, R. D.; and Miss Malinda, of home. Other survivors of the family are 21 grandchildren, three brothers, Chrisman, John and Jacob; and three sisters, Kate, Mrs. David Zuercher; and the Misses Leah and Fanny, Orrville, R. D. Two sisters preceded him.

Relatives from abroad attending the funeral were an aunt, Miss Fanny Basinger; two uncles, Nathan and Theoph. Basinger; Daniel, Weldon and Miss Susie Basinger; Mrs. Lizzie Amstutz, Miss Maryann Basinger, of Putnam, and Allen Counties, and Mr. and Mrs. John Moser, of Burbank.
