. . .

— Another case of self destruction occurred Monday when David Stenzel of this city, manager of the Conoco Service station sought death by suicide. He was found in the wash room of the station at 12:45 today noon by his partner, J. Powell, with blood streaming from his head where a 32 caliber bullet had entered just above the right temple and left the skull in the upper part of his head. No cause for the evidently self-inflicted wound had been assigned this afternoon. He was barely breathing when taken to the Bethel hospital.

Stenzel had been hovering between life and death, with physicians expecting him to pass away at any time at 3:30 this afternoon. "Still breathing, but that is about all," was the report from the hospital. Physicians had given him but a few minutes to live at 1:15.
