SO. DAK. NONAGENARIAN, YOUNG MOTHER,

CALLED AWAY IN DEATH

Marion, S. D. – A nonagenarian and a young mother of the Marion and Bridgewater community were called away in death during this past two weeks.

Funeral services for the 91-year-old Grandmother Gertrude Goosen were held June 23 at the Silver Lake M. B. Church, with Rev. M. A. Schellenberg officiating.

June 16, funeral services were held at the Salem Mennonite Brethren Church, Bridgewater, for Mrs. Hope Fern Hofer who died unexpectedly in a Sioux Falls hospital of a ruptured uterus. She had previously entered Freeman Hospital for a Caesarean operation but sudden illness made it necessary for her to be taken to Sioux Falls.

Another well known resident of the community, Isaac A. Schmidt, 76, died June 17 and was buried from the Bethesda Mennonite Church on June 21.
