[article includes a small photograph]

Newton friends have received word of the death last week of Dr. Theodore O. Wedel, 78, of Alexandria, Va., a frequent lecturer at Bethel College during past years and a son of the first Bethel president, Rev. C. H. Wedel.

Death came unexpectedly as result of a heart attack.

Dr. Wedel was a former canon of the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D. C., where the funeral was held. Ordained as an Episcopal priest in 1931, he served for a time as president of the Episcopal Church. His widow, Cynthia, is president of the National Council of Churches.
