was born near the North bank of the Mississippi river in Lee County, Iowa, November 26, 1840.  Her parents were John C. Krehbiel and Anna (Wohlgemuth) Krehbiel.  Her mother died when she was two weeks old and subsequently she lived with her aunt for five years at which time her father married again and she joined the new home.
 
She married Daniel Hertzler at Franklin, Iowa, in September 1859.  Five children were born to them:  Christena (Volmer), Vandalia, Missouri, Anna (Dyck), Moundridge, an infant who died in infancy, John F. of The Dalles, Oregon, and Arthur E. of the local address.
 
She lived the life of a pioneer near Franklin and later near West Point, Iowa.  She came to Kansas with her husband in 1894, living first in Newton, then for a year in Moundridge.  Her husband died in 1895 after which time she lived with her several children and finally took up her permanent residence at the Halstead Hospital where she died June 13, 1929.
 
She lived a long and useful life.  May she rest in peace. &#8212;

Hannah Maria Krehbiel

was born near the North bank of the Mississippi river in Lee County, Iowa, November 26, 1840. Her parents were John C. Krehbiel and Anna (Wohlgemuth) Krehbiel.
