Mrs. Christine Landes, 78, wife of Michael Landes, died Tuesday afternoon, April 10, at General hospital, Elkhart, ind., where she had been a patient six days. She had been in ill health several years.

She and Mr. Landes had been living with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Esther) Hooley, at 1629 Prairie St., Elkhart.

MRS. CHRISTINE LANDES

Mrs. Christine Landes, 78, wife of Michael Landes, died Tuesday afternoon, April 10, at General hospital, Elkhart, Ind., where she had been a patient six days. She had been in ill health several years.

She and Mr. Landes had been living with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Esther) Hooley, at 1629 Prairie St., Elkhart.

Mrs. Landes was born Dec. 29, 1872, in Kosciusko county, Ind., the daughter of Ulrich and Anna Bare Welty, and had lived in Elkhart 50 years. She and Mr. Landes were married Jan. 18, 1903, at Nappanee. Mr. Landes has been an employee of the Bell Printing Co. 58 years.

Surviving besides the husband and daughter are two sisters, Mrs. Ira (Minerva) Weldy of Goshen; two brothers, William and David Welty, both of Nappanee, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Prairie Street Mennonite church on Friday afternon [sic], April 13, Bishop D. A. Yoder and John Gingrich in charge. Burial was made in the Prairie Street cemetery.
