Pennsylvania Woman and Son Die in Fire

Harleysville, Pa. — Laura Welch Halteman, 19, and her 14-month-old son, Chet, died Nov. 23 in an apartment fire which apparently started by a kerosene heater placed too close to a wall.

Autopsies showed that Halteman and her son died of inhalation of fumes and carbon monoxide poisoning, according to the Montgomery County coroner's office.

Services for the Haltemans were held at Upper Skippack Mennonite Church, Skippack. Survivors include their husband and father, Richard S. Halteman.
