Indian Lay Leader Dies In Oklahoma at 76

Canton, Okla. (GCMC) — Mary Mae Pratt Meeks, an Arapaho Indian and lay leader and member of Zion Mennonite Church here, died Nov. 14 at the age of 76.

Nearly 200 relatives and friends gathered near Geary, Okla., to bury Meeks' body in Arapaho soil.

"Today from near and far we pay tribute to a great lady. What made her great? Her commitment to the Lord," said family friend Ralph Toahty.

Meeks is survived by two daughters and two sons.
