Christian F. Hodel, 85, of Newton, died Dec. 16 at Newton Medical Center. Funeral services were held Dec. 19 at First Mennonite Church, Newton. James Dunn and Verney Unruh officiated. Burial was in Restlawn Gardens of Memory, Newton. A native of Marion County, he was the owner of NuWay Laundry between 1948 and 1969. Survivors include his wife, Katherine (Ewy); three daughters, Ellagene Regier of Newton, Marilyn Loeffler of Newton and JoAnn Roberts of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Walter of Bakersfield, Calif., and Jake of Hillsboro; one sister, Eva Hodel of Hillsboro; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
