Catherina (Widmer) Burck was born on March 23, 1885 in Wayland, Iowa, the daughter of Christian R. and Barbara (Roth) Widmer. She died of a heart attack at the Albany, Ore. General Hospital on Jan. 27, 1965 at the age of 79 years, 10 months and four days.

Katie moved to Oregon with her parents when she was 11 years old and accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age. She was one of the charter members of the Albany Mennonite Church, remaining a faithful member until her death.

On May 6, 1909 she was married to Harley Burck at Albany. Harley preceded her in death in January 1962. Their home was blessed with three sons and five daughters, all of whom survive. They are Ernest of Albany; Valera, Mrs. Robert Baker of Goshen, Ind.; Grace, Mrs. Edwin Anderson of Silver Springs, Md.; Viola, Mrs. Lester Kropf of Albany; Clarence of Corvallis, Ore.; Evelyn, Mrs. Lloyd Fisher of Jos, Nigeria, Africa; Lois, Mrs. John Detwiler of Annawan, Ill.; and Willis of Albany.

She is also survived by three brothers and one sister: Herbert Widmer of Harrington, Wash., Elmer Widmer of Salem, Ore., Ezra Widmer of Albany, and Gladys, Mrs. Floyd Whitaker of Albany; 28 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Asum Funeral Home, Albany, on Jan. 30, in charge of David W. Mann. Burial was in the Twin Oaks Memoral Gardens near Albany.
