MARCUS A. BEUTLER, son of Jacob and Katie Dahlem Beutler, was born on a farm near Trenton, Ill., on July 9, 1878, and passed away at his home two miles south of Summerfield on December 4, 1939, at the age of 61 years, 4 months, and 25 days.
 
On October 1, 1893, he was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Mennonite church at Summerfield. On April 26, 1911, he was united in marriage with Katie Schmidt. This union was blessed with four daughters all of whom are still living.
 
For about two years Brother Beutler was afflicted with pernicious anaemia [''sic''], but he bore his affliction with patience. He leaves to mourn his departure his widow, four daughters, a son-in-law and grandchild; five sisters and two brothers, and many other relatives and friends.
 
The funeral services were held at the Mennonite church at Summerfield on Wednesday afternoon, December 6, conducted by the pastor of the church. Interment was made in the Lebanon cemetery. — Elmer Basinger.
