HELEN HARDER LOEWEN
Helen Harder Loewen died Aug. 24. She was born Feb . 20, 1919 in Molotschna, Russia to Heinrich Peter and Helena Harder. The family settled near Winkler, Man. in 1925, and Helen accepted the Lord when she was 9. Soon after, she felt God's call to be a missionary and later trained as a nurse at St. Boniface. After attending Winkler Bible School, Helen sailed in 1946 for Calcutta, India, where she grew to love the people of Andhra Pradesh through medical service and Bible studies in her home. Her hospitality was a blessing for many young leaders and missionaries. After 25 years with MBMSI, she returned to Toronto and married Peter J. Loewen in 1977. Helen eventually joined Elmwood MB Church in Winnipeg. She is mourned by sisters Tina (Peter) Doerksen, Gertrude Klassen, Margaret Harder, and Susie (Henry) Loewen. The memorial service was Aug. 29 at Elmwood MB Church, Winnipeg.
