JACOB FLATT

Jacob (Jack) Flatt died Aug. 14. He was born Nov. 7, 1922 in Wygoda, Poland to Philip and Sophie Flatt, and immigrated to Canada with his parents in 1928. He spent the rest of his life working in the Elmwood/East Kildonan area of Winnipeg, giving generously of his design talents and construction abilities to Elmwood MB Church. In 1947, he married Mary Rose Falk and set up an auto body business with his father. Later, he joined Motor Coach Industries designing Greyhound buses. He retired to a comfortable and contented life in 1987, spending time tuning up his 1991 Buick, "putzkying" around the house and taking care of the family cottage in Gimli. He is mourned by Mary; daughters Lorraine (James) Friesen and Linda Eloise; sisters Olga Shier and Elsie (Alfred) Neufeld. The memorial service was Aug. 20, at Elmwood MB Church.
