JOHN PETER HOOGE

John Peter Hooge died May 15, age 95. He was born to Peter H. and Maria Hooge in Klinok, Russia May 12, 1912, and immigrated to Manitoba in 1926 with his family. In 1933, they moved to B.C. John was baptized in Yarrow MB Church July 29, 1934 and married Katie Dahl Oct. 24, 1935. They farmed in Sardis, B.C.,joining Greendale MB Church. John was an award-winning gardener, and also loved to play golf, which he learned at 60 and played until nearly 90. He prayed daily, served others with time and money, encouraged his family, and was an example of how to treat one's spouse. Predeceased by Katie March 30, he is mourned by children John (Ruth), Gordon (Sandy), Benjamin, Blondina Enns, Victor (Linda), Bruno (Lorraine), Clarence (Susan); 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great- great-granddaughter. The celebration of life service was May 23 at Greendale MB Church.
