Funeral services for H. A. Woelk, 85, who died Aug. 9 at the Bethesda Hospital in Goessel, were held Friday forenoon at the Goessel Mennonite Church, Rev. Leo Miller in charge. Mr. Woelk was a native of Russia and had lived at Goessel since 1893. Surviving are his wife, Lizzie; four sons, Henry J. of Wichita, Alvin S. of Lamar, Colo., Arthur J. of Hillsboro and Eldon of Route 2, Newton; two daughters, Mrs. Walter B. Entz of Newton and Mrs. Herman Voth of Buhler; one brother, J. A. Woelk of Arizona; one sister, Mrs. B. A. Heinrich A. Woelk, son of Abraham and Justina Friesen Woelk, was born in South Russia on Nov. 24, 1874. In Feb. 1893, he with his parents left Russia to establish a new home near Goessel, Kan. | |||
He was married May 20, 1897, to Katharina Schmidt, who died in 1914. On Nov. 3, 1915 he married Anna Unruh, who preceded him in death in 1921. On Nov. 11, 1925 he married Lizzie Heidebrecht, who survives. Other survivors are four sons, Henry J. of Wichita, Kan., Alvin S. of Lamar, Colo., Arthur J. of Rt. 2, Hillsboro, Kan., Eldon P. of Rt. 2, Newton, Kan.; two daughters, (Anna) Mrs. Walter B. Entz of Rt. 5, Newton, Kan., and (Hilda) Mrs. Herman Voth of Buhler, Kan.; one brother, J. A. Woelk of Winslow, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. B. A. Friesen of Rosthern, Sask.; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. | |||
Three children preceded him in death, Ernest, age 3; Sara, age 3; and Marie, age 36, and her husband, Charles Hepler. | |||
Upon confession of his faith he was baptized and united with the Alexanderwohl church in 1894. In 1920, when the Goessel Mennonite church was organized, he became a charter member and remained an active and faithful member to the end. | |||
On Aug. 9 at 6:30 p. m. his very eventful and fruitful life of nearly 86 years came to a abrupt end and he passed on to his eternal home. | |||

Heinrich A. Wölk, Sohn von Abraham und Justina Friesen-Wölk, wurde am 24. November 1874 in Südrußland geboren. 1893 verließ er mit Eltern und Geschwistern Rußland, und sie gründeten hier in Amerika in der Nähe von Gössel in Kansas ihr neues Heim.
1894 wurde er getauft und Glied der Alexanderwohler Gemeinde.
1897 trat er mit Katharina Schmidt in die Ehe. Seine Frau starb 1914.
1915 heiratete er Anna Unruh, welche nach 6 jähriger Ehe starb. 1925 heiratete er dann Liese Heidebrecht, welche ihn mit folgenden Kindern überlebt: Heinrich J., Wichita, Kans.; Alvin S., Lamar, Kolo.; Arthur J., Hillsboro, Kans.; Eldon P., Newton, Kans.; und 2 Töchter Anna, Frau W.
