• Elvin Eugene Bontrager, 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Eli M. Bontrager of the Burrton community, died May 28 at the Halstead Hospital after a brief illness. The Harvey County sanitarian stated later that his death may have been due to Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, but the results of lab tests which could confirm this will not be available for some time. The disease, carried by ticks, is extremely rare in this area. the youth attended Halstead High school and was a member of the Hesston Mennonite Church, where the funeral was conducted Saturday afternoon by Rev. Richard Yordy, Rev. Jerry Quiring, and Rev. Harry Diener. Survivors in addition to the parents include three brothers, Ivan W. of Hesston, Mervin of Wichita, and Orvin E. of the Home; a sister, Mrs. Roger Unruh of Halstead; the the [''sic''] grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D.
