&bull;  Mrs. Katie S. Warkentine, 76, of Wheatland Homes in North Newton, died unexpectedly the morning of April 30 in Bethel Deaconess Hospital.  She was a member of the Bethel College Church, where the funeral was conducted Friday forenoon by Rev. Esko Loewen and Rev. John Esau.  The former Katie Schmidt married Henry Warkentine in 1922 at Hillsboro.  He died in 1958.  The family resided at Peabody for a number of years, and Mrs. Warkentine moved here in 1968.  Surviving are three sons, Marvin of Burns, Ed of Shawnee, Kan., and David of North Newton; one daughter, Mrs. Rozella Warhurst of Newton; three brothers, Albert Schmidt of Newton, John Schmidt of Blackwell, Okla., and Ben Schmidt of Enid, Okla.; six sisters, Mrs. Anna Schmidt of Goessel, Mrs. Neal Redger of Roxbury, Mrs. Herman Flaming of Newton, Mrs. John Neufeld and Mrs. Ed Friesen, both of Medford, Okla.; 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
