<center><h3>JONATHAN J. SCHWARTZ</h3></center>
Jonathan J. Schwartz was born on July 9, 1883, near Freeman, S. D., the son of Jacob C. and Mary Schwartz.  He died Nov. 21, 1974, at the Glendive, Mont. Community Hospital after a brief illness.  He reached the age of 91.
 
He was baptized on Sept. 15, 1901 by Rev. Joseph Kaufman and received into the Salem Mennonite Church near Freeman.
 
On June 26, 1907, he married Frances Graber.  After living in the Freeman area for approximately five years, they moved to Montana, homesteading in the Bloomfield area where he was engaged in farming until his retirement.  In 1948 they moved to Glendive, where he lived until his death.
 
While living in the Bloomfield area he was an active member of the Bethlehem Mennonite Church.  Upon moving to Glendive he became a member of the First Mennonite Church, where he remained faithful until his death.
 
He remained in relatively good health and was able to enjoy his family and friends until his final illness on Nov. 13, 1974.
 
He is survived by three children, Alfred of Bozeman, Mrs. Alfred (Leone [''sic'' Leona]) Senner of Bloomfield, and Melvin of Richey; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, one son, Delbert, and all of his brothers and sisters.
 
Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church of Glendive at 1 p.m. on Nov. 26, with Rev. Edmond Neubauer and Rev. Nick Dyck officiating.  Burial was at the Bethel Mennonite Cemetery, Bloomfield.

JONATHAN J. SCHWARTZ
