Bishop Christian S. Streicher, 78, rural Elmwood and formerly of Wellesley, died at Hanover District Hospital on May 6. He was ordained as a deacon in 1944, as a minister in 1952 and as a bishop in 1956, retiring from the ministry in 1967. He had served as moderator of the Western Ontario Mennonite Conference for three years. Survivors include one son, three daughters, 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death in 1961 by his first wife, the former Clara Nafziger, and in 1974 by his second wife, the former Lucina Jantzi. The funeral was conducted at Crosshill Mennonite Church on May 9, with Rev. Steven Gerber and Rev. Irvin Erb officiating. — Correspondent.
Mrs. John W. Jantzi, 72, of Crosshill died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on May 7. A memorial service was held at the Cedar Grove Amish-Mennonite Church near Wellesley on May 10.
