Three Newton, Ont. Residents Killed in Car-Truck Crash
Newton, Ont. — an early evening crash involving a station wagon and a transport truck recently claimed the lives of three elderly residents of this community.
Dead are Solomon J. Kuepfer, 66, his wife, age 73, and Mrs. John Albrecht, Sr., 78.
The crash occurred at an intersection near Tillsonburg. It is believed Mrs. Kuepfer was blinded by the setting sun and drove out in front of an oncoming truck owned by Booth Transport Ltd.
Mr. and Mrs. Kuepfer were well known in this community, having attended the Stratford Farmers market with their produce for over 30 years.

Mrs. John Albrecht, 78, of rural Newton died on May 21 as a result of a car-truck collision near Simcoe. The former Sarah Boshart, she was a member of Sterling Avenue Mennonite Church, Kitchener. Surviving are three sons, one daughter, one sister, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. the funeral was conducted at Crosshill Mennonite Church on May 24, with Rev. Steven Gerber officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Solomon J. Kuepfer of rural Newton also died on May 21 as a result of the car-truck collision near Simcoe. Mr. Kuepfer, 66, is survived by three brothers. Mrs. Kuepfer, 73, was the former Kathryn Lebold and is survived by four sisters. A double funeral service was held at Mornington Amish Mennonite Church of Poole on May 25, with Bishop Melvin Roes officiating.
