• Funeral services for Mrs. Aganetha Fast, 89, of Route 2, Newton were held last Friday afternoon at the Goessel Mennonite Church. Rev. Henry Goossen, the pastor, officiated. Mrs. Fast died Jan. 21 at the Bethesda Hospital. She was a native of the Goessel community and was married there to Isaac B. Fast in 1915. He died in 1971. Surviving are a son, Menno, of Lincoln, Neb.; two daughters, Mrs. Milton Schmidt of rural Walton and Mrs. Homer Waltner of Freeman, S. D.; 10 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. P. J. Schmidt of Route 2, Newton, and Miss Mary Unruh of Peabody.

MRS. ISAAC B. FAST

Aganetha Unruh Fast, daughter of Kornelius and Anna (Funk) Unruh, was born on Aug. 30, 1884, in the Goessel, Kan. community. Here she spent her youth and received her formal education.

On May 31, 1903, she was baptized by Rev. Peter Balzer and united with the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. She continued her walk with the Master who never failed her, and willingly and humbly accepted a frail body which fell to be her lot in later life.

On June 17, 1915, she was married to Isaac B. Fast. This union was blessed with one son and two daughters.

On June 10, 1920, when the Goessel Mennonite Church was organized, she transferred her membership to that church, being one of the charter members. She loved the church and urged her children to participate in every aspect of church life.

We remember mother as one whose heart thrilled to the song of birds and the splendor of flowers. She made us aware of the beauties of nature through her fondness for the garden and out-of-doors.

On Jan. 10, 1974 she was hospitalized because of respiratory problems. However, she regained her strength and could again return to her daughter's home where she was given loving care by the family. She had to return to the hospital on Jan. 20 and died the following evening. She attained the age of 89.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 16, 1971, and by three sisters and three brothers. Those who remain to cherish her memory are Menno and wife Naomi of Lincoln, Neb., Selma and husband Milton Schmidt of Walton, Martha and husband Homer Waltner of Freeman, S. D.; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Schmidt and Miss Mary Unruh; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Susie Unruh and Mrs. Anna Voth; and 10 grandchildren.—The Family.
