MARTHA FUNK

Martha Funk died Feb. 4. She was born June 29, 1913 in Ekatrinovka, Slavgorod, Siberia to Nickolai and Margarete Janzen. Her father died of typhoid fever in 1918. Her mother married Kornelius Heinrichs. Because there was no teacher in their village they moved to Karatal. Those were hard years. Martha received Jesus as her Lord and Saviour at 14 and was baptized, joining Grieschowka MB Church. They attempted to emigrate from U.S.S.R., but were not permitted. During World War II they moved to southern Russia and then to Germany with the army.
