MRS. MARIA REGIER

Mrs. P. P. (Maria) Regier, daughter of Abraham and Katharina (Lohrenz) Schellenberg, was born March 9, 1876 in South Russia and departed this life on Aug. 10, 1972 at the age of 96.

She with her parents moved from South Russia to Kansas in 1879. Her childhood and teenage years were lived in the Buhler community.

She was married to P. P. Regier on July 7, 1895 at Buhler. They lived in Nebraska for about one year, and then in 1896 moved to Oklahoma and homesteaded northeast of Enid. In 1943 they moved into the city of Enid and she lived here the remainder of her life. God blessed this marriage with seven children and with the privilege of sharing life for nearly 49 years.

The work of the church has been a focal point of her life. On Oct. 1, 1893, upon confession of faith, she was baptized by her father, Rev. Abraham Schellenberg. Upon moving to Enid she became a charter member of the North Enid Mennonite Brethren Church and was the last surviving charter member. She shared with her husband in the joys of the ministry and actively served in the work of the church as long as health permitted. She was a member of the Enid Mennonite Brethren Church at the time of her passing.

She had a vibrant testimony for her Lord. She had a song to share and enjoyed sharing verses or poems with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Peter L. and Dan R. Regier; three brothers and four sisters. She was the last remaining member of the Regier family.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are two daughters, Mrs. David (Mary) Janzen of Reedley, Calif. and Miss Tina of the home; three sons, A. L. and D. L. Regier of Enid, and Menno of Bakersfield, Calif.; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Anna Regier of Reedley and Mrs. Sophia Regier of Enid; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren — the Family.
