KAY KROEKER
Katherine Kay Kroeker died Nov. 17. She was born in Saskatchewan to Abram and Katherine Thiessen. The family moved to a dairy and berry farm in B. C. She became a Christian at 17 and was baptized. She married Nick Kroeker May 7, 1949. They farmed in Sumas Prairie until 1969. They attended Yarrow MB Church. In 1970, they moved to Abbotsford, joining Central Heights Church. She taught Sunday school, worked in the library, on the festival committee and created floral arrangements for the church. She was a talented gardener, and she enjoyed nature, hiking, camping and travelling. She had a keen mind and was eager to learn. After being diagnosed with terminal bone cancer, she faced her last days with dignity and appreciation for her caregivers. She is mourned by Nick, daughters Diane Petkau, Marlene Dirksen; son Gary; 1 brother; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. The funeral was in Central Heights Church with Christopher Douglas ministering.
