SUSAN DUERKSEN

Susan Duerksen died Aug. 28. She was born Feb. 27, 1922 to Cornelius and Katherine Warkentin in Arkadak, South Russia. The family immigrated to Margaret, Man. when she was 3. She married John Duerksen in 1943. They farmed near Holmfield, Man., moving to Killarney, Man. in 1976. She loved the Lord and prayed faithfully for her family. She made a quilt for each grandchild. She wrote her memoirs, poems and short stories. She had a keen sense of humour. Predeceased by John May 13, 1 grandson, 1 granddaughter, she is mourned by daughters Judy Dueck, Dianne Unrau, Susan Hamm, Lynda Brubacher, Rose Heide, Barb Nickel; son John; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral was Aug. 31 in Lakeview Community Church, Killarney.
