Frank E. Plett was born Oct. 27, 1889 to Cornelius and Sarah Plett at Henderson, Neb. He went home to be with the Lord at his home on May 27, 1972 at the age of 82 after several years of failing health. | |||
At an early age he moved to Lehigh, Kan. where he grew up and attended school. He attended the Springfield Mennonite Brethren Church where he accepted Christ and was baptized and joined the church at the age of 18. At the age of 23 he was married to Anna Harder on Oct. 10, 1912. | |||
Through the years he was active in various church offices. In later years he was ordained as a deacon and served in this capacity until his health failed. | |||
He farmed in Kansas until 1934 when they moved to Inola, Okla. He farmed there until 1947 when they came to California, finally settling in Atwater, where he engaged in farm work until his retirement. | |||
After his retirement, he spent many hours rolling bandages for mission hospitals. He also traced and cut quilt blocks which his wife sewed together for the women's circle. | |||
He is survived by his wife of 59 years of marriage, Anna of Atwater and 11 children, including five sons: Elmer, Turlock, Calif.; Mendo, Sunnyvale; Franklin, Chouteau, Okla.; Theodore and Edwin, both of Atwater; six daughters: Frieda, San Jose, Hilda Unrau, Downey; Vesta Loewen, Meade, Kan., Rubena Berg, Campbell; Darlene Friesen, Winton, and Viola Garrison, Atwater. There are 31 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and three brothers: Cornelius, Buhler, Kan.; Jacob, Hillsboro, Kan., and David, Ramona, Okla. He was preceded in death by one infant son, John, and one infant grandson. | |||
