JOHN W. SCHROEDER
John W. Schroeder
died June 20. He was
born to John and
Kathryn Schroeder in 1912 in Laird, Sask. His
parents separated and
he was placed first in
an orphanage, then in
foster homes. He
worked at the Friesen
farm in Sommerfeld,
Man. He tried to find work in the early 30s
by riding the rails. He married Eva Kehler
Oct. 29, 1935. They lived with her parents
for 5 years. In 1945 the family moved to
Aldergrove, B.C. He worked for Buckerfields
and Burns Meat Packing. He built a poultry
farm. They worked hard to develop the farm.
They sold the farm and moved to Clearbrook. He worked as a carpenter. They attended Clearbrook MB Church. He looked
after Eva when her health failed. Eva died in
1996. Daughter Doreen became his caregiver. He enjoyed visits with his children and
grandchildren, particularly Christmas get-togethers. Predeceased by Eva, he is mourned
by Doreen, Eva, Anna, Harold and Ed; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral was June 26 in Clearbrook MB Church.
