• Gerhard F. Harms, 71,who farmed in the Whitewater community all of his life, died Saturday at Bethel Deaconess Hospital after an extended illness. He married Susie Goertz in 1927, and she survives with their children, Dr. Gerhard L. of Seattle, Wash., Paul M. of Upland, Ind., and Mrs. Franzie (Dorothy) Loepp of Normal, ill.; a brother, E. L. of Homestead, Fla.; and five sisters, Laura, Mrs. Marie harms, and Mrs. Fred Klaassen, all of Whitewater, Ruth of Seattle, and Sister Theodosia of Newton. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Grace Hill Mennonite Church, of which he was a member.

Gerhard F. Harms, 71, son of Rev. G. N. and Maria Nickel Harms, died April 15, 1972 in the Bethel Deaconess Hospital, Newton, Kan. He was baptized in the Grace Hill Mennonite Church by his father and remained a lifelong member of that fellowship. He attended Hillsboro Academy, Whitewater High School, and Bethel Academy, from which he graduated.

On Aug. 21, 1927, he married Susie Goertz and they lived and farmed in the Grace Hill community near Whitewater, Kan. all of their married life.

Survivors include his widow, of the home; three children, Dr. G. Lester Harms of Bellevue, Wash., Paul M. Harms of Upland, Ind., and Mrs. Franzie (Dorothy) Loepp of Normal, Ill.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Ernest L. Harms of Homestead, Fla.; and five sisters, Miss Laura Harms, Mrs. Fred (Hannah) Harms, and Mrs. William (Marie) Harms, all of rural Whitewater, Sister Theodosia Harms of Newton, and Miss Ruth Harms of Seattle, Wash. Preceding him in death was a sister, Mrs. Jake (Gertrude) Hooge of Plum Coulee, Manitoba.

Funeral services were held at the Grace Hill Church on April 18, 1972, with Rev. E. J. Miller officiating.
