ABE PETKAU
Abe Petkau died Mar. 7. He was born May 6, 1925 in Russia and soon immigrated to Canada. He attended Bible school and accepted Christ in his 20s. He married Mary Klassen May 22, 1949 in Port Rowan, Ont. They lived in St. Catharines, then moved to Port Rowan. He established a trucking company. He instilled strong Christian values into his children and influenced the drivers who worked for him. They retired to Simcoe, Ont. in 1991. They enjoyed travelling. Mary died in 1999. He married Hedy Penner in November 2001. He enjoyed golfing, reading, camping, travelling and meeting friends at Tim Hortons. He prayed faithfully for his children and grandchildren. Predeceased by Mary and several siblings, he is mourned by Hedy; daughters Carol Hiebert, Brenda Petkau, Lynn Andres, Gayle Gill, Edith Kouros, Eleanor Dolan, Kathy Janzen, Mary Eleanor Penner; son Wayne; 27 grandchildren; 2 brothers, 1 sister. The funeral was Mar. 10 in Vineland United Mennonite Church.
